We had a wonderful evening in this 14th -Century church performing music by Brescianello, Nardini, and Pez, rounded off with a piece of Czeck folk music. Our programme, inspired by a painting by the Stuttgart court painter Philipp Friedrich von Hetsch, recreates the agony of Hercules' decision, torn between a life of ease and pleasure and a life of hard work and heroism. The contrasting moods of passion and of seriousness, and well as the longing for a reconciliation of these contrasts, were reflected in the musical programme. We are very much looking forward to presenting this programme again in Stuttgart, complemented by visual art by Clara Sophie Klein, and recorded live by SWR!
